Hair Care

Luxury Hair Collection Instructions

Remember: the luxury -virgin-human hair extensions you buy from NLH are not your natural hair. Although our extensions are 100% human hair and are attached to your natural hair, they don’t receive the natural nutrients your natural hair does. As such, the lifespan of your luxury hair extension depends on the care they receive.
1. Treat the luxury hair extension as if they were your own hair.

2. Apply your 100% human hair extensions to dry and clean hair.

3. Our human hair extensions are 100% virgin hair, and we recommend “co-washing” the hair (i.e., washing hair with a moisturizing conditioner) before installation. Co-wash the extension BEFORE you make any changes to it (i.e., color, apply heat, etc.).

4. It is recommended to seal your wefts (the base that the individual hairs of the human hair extension are attached to) before each install. It will ensure the longevity of the hair and decrease shedding.

5. When shampooing your luxury hair extension, DO NOT rub the hair vigorously. Rather, gently run your fingers through the hair.

6. Let your luxury hair extension dry naturally—don’t use a blow dryer.

7. To prevent and remove tangles, always brush your hair from the ends up, and work your way to your scalp.

8. Use minimal products (i.e., shampoo, hair sprays, etc.) to avoid chemical build-up.

9. Avoid alcohol-based products, which can dry out your 100% human hair extension.

10. For curly hair, a leave-in conditioner (i.e., a spray, not a lotion) is recommended for a natural curly look.

11. Consult a professional stylist for installation and removal of extensions.

Combing: BE GENTLE with your 100% human hair extension. Part your hair extensions into 4 equal sections. Always use a wide-tooth comb and/or paddle brush. Comb gently from the ends and work your way up to the scalp. Do not comb or brush curly hair extension when dry or it may cause tangling.

Heat: Do NOT blow-dry or curl your luxury hair extension daily; Use heat sparingly on both your natural hair and the extensions to prevent heat damage and breakage. This will also keep the texture rich and full.

Daily Maintenance: Keep both natural hair and your hair extensions moisturized. Sleep with satin bonnet, silk scarf, or use flexi rods in order to keep hair as healthy as possible.

Curly Hair: Curly hair may require more maintenance than straight hair. Allow extra time to care for this style of hair to keep it manageable. Use a sulfate-free shampoo once a month, and condition up to 2-3 times weekly or when it’s too dry. Tressame Flawless Curls or Aussie Moisturizing works especially well.

Differences in Hair Types

Brazilian Hair: Brazilian hair is one of the most beautiful types of hair in the world, and ideal for luxury hair extensions. It is known for its full body, beautiful bounce, texture, shine and versatility—working well with all hair styles. This hair is popular because of its softness, durability, density (thickness), and because it holds curls beautifully. Its texture is easy to blend with most ethnicities—everything from certain Caucasian textures to relaxed African-American textures.

This hair has a shiny appearance and feel, and because of its density, it is less likely to become frizzy than other types of hair like Malaysian. Brazilian hair is available in wavy, straight or curly textures. The straight textures are not completely straight, but tend to have some light waves. Brazilian hair is exceptionally luxurious, unusually soft and smooth, and with a low-to-medium luster. If you take good care of it, Brazilian hair will last a long time.

Malaysian Hair: Malaysian hair can appear excessively shiny at first, but after the first 2-3 washes, the shine lessens considerably, and the hair takes on a more natural appearance. Curls will not loosen or drop, but will stay curly the entire day—and with no products needed to maintain the curl.

Relaxed African-American hair blends well with Malaysian hair. Avoid using too much oil spray on this hair, as it will make it very shiny. If you want volume and thickness, Malaysian hair—with great bounce and heavy body—is your best option. Because of its fullness, it can have a tendency to be dry if it is not properly cared for.

In order to keep it sufficiently moisturized, we recommend you use a good leave-in conditioner after the second time you use your real human hair extension. It will not swell or frizz in humid conditions, making it low maintenance. This hair is amazing—we know you will love it!
